Ms. Bakich is currently a Deputy District Attorney assigned to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit, with the additional responsibility of handling all human trafficking cases. She has been a prosecutor for the past seven years, beginning her career in criminal prosecution at the Merced County District Attorney’s Office prior to arriving at the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office.
Ms. Bakich received a bachelor’s degree from California State University at Monterey Bay in 2004 in the field of Human Communication with an emphasis in Pre-Law. In 2007, Ms. Bakich received a master’s degree from San Jose State University in the field of Justice Studies. And in 2012, Ms. Bakich received a juris doctorate from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, participating in two internships within the criminal justice field in both Missouri State and Monterey County. During her career as a prosecutor, she has conducted no less than 20 jury trials, and has completed no less than 140 hours of continuing legal education, at least 30 hours specifically dedicated to human trafficking and human trafficking-related issues.
